Resumo Com ou sem conhecimento do conceito de curadoria, professores de Inglês como Segunda Língua lançam mão de inúmeras práticas de curadoria digital de material didático para o ensino de línguas. Tendo em vista que tais ações podem ser otimizadas por tecnologias on-line, sobretudo por Sistemas de Autoria Abertos, temos por objetivo analisar práticas de curadoria aplicadas ao sistema Ensino de Línguas Online (ELO) em Nuvem. Com o respaldo teórico de pesquisas sobre curadoria digital, desenvolvemos um estudo de natureza aplicada, com abordagem metodológica qualitativa, usando os cinco princípios de curadoria digital propostos por Deschaine e Sharma (2015): Coleção, Categorização, Crítica, Conceituação e Circulação. Os resultados indicam que o ELO incorpora os cinco princípios, embora alguns recursos e ferramentas do sistema para essa prática possam ser aperfeiçoados.

Abstract With or without knowledge of what content curation means, teachers of English as a Second Language make use of numerous digital curation practices of teaching materials for language teaching. Bearing in mind that such actions can be optimized by online technologies, especially by Open Authoring Systems, we aim to analyze curatorial practices as applied to the Electronic Learning Organizer (ELO) Cloud, a free-access cloud authoring tool available for language teachers. With the theoretical support of research on digital curation, we developed a study of an applied nature, with qualitative orientation, using the five principles of digital curation as proposed by Deschaine and Sharma (2015): collection, categorization, critiquing, conceptualization and circulation. The results indicate that ELO incorporates the five principles, although some resources and tools for this practice can be improved.

RESUMO Neste artigo, relatamos uma investigação sobre a produção de Recursos Educacionais Abertos (REA) nas perspectivas dos Letramentos Críticos (LC) e da Competência Simbólica (CS). Primeiramente, discutimos a relevância dos LC e da CS para o contexto da educação linguística, mais especificamente no que tange à produção de REA; em seguida, descrevemos alguns princípios teórico-metodológicos dos LC e da CS que podem servir de parâmetro para produção de REA; finalmente, demonstramos de que modo tais princípios podem ser aplicados à produção de tais materiais. O artigo demonstra de que forma os princípios teórico-metodológicos dos LC e da CS podem ser aplicados à produção de REA, oferecendo subsídios para que os(as) educadores(as) linguísticos(as) possam produzir materiais de ensino nas perspectivas em questão.

ABSTRACT This paper reports on research on the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) in the perspective of Critical Literacy (CL) and Symbolic Competence (SC). First, we discuss the relevance of Critical Literacy and Symbolic Competence to the context of language education, specifically with regard to OER production; afterwards, we approach theoretical-methodological principles of CL and SC that may be used as parameters for OER production; finally, we demonstrate how such principles can support the production of such materials. The paper demonstrates how theoretical-methodological principles of CL and SC may be applied to OER production by offering subsidies so that educators may not only produce teaching materials in the perspective in question, but also do so from their respective educational realities.

RESUMO O presente trabalho versa sobre a produção de Recursos Educacionais Abertos (REA) na perspectiva dos Letramentos Críticos. O objetivo geral do estudo é investigar em que medida um Recurso Educacional Aberto (REA) na perspectiva dos Letramentos Críticos pode propiciar (ou não) affordances para a produção de eventos discursivos sensíveis a problemas sociais como a xenofobia. Os objetivos específicos da pesquisa são três, a saber: a) Apresentar o REA desenvolvido (objetivos do material, princípios teórico-metodológicos que nortearam o seu desenvolvimento, materiais e ferramentas utilizados durante a sua produção, etc.); b) Analisar duas amostras dos eventos discursivos oriundos desse REA, com vistas a identificar indícios de Letramentos Críticos; c) Discutir possibilidades teórico-metodológicas para o redesign desse material. O estudo foi desenvolvido na disciplina “Oficina de Produção Textual”, da Licenciatura em Letras Espanhol a Distância da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, em parceria com a Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UFSM/UAB). Nesse sentido, apresenta características de uma pesquisa qualitativa de cunho fenomenológico (BOGDAN e BIKLEN, 1996). Os resultados da pesquisa indicam que REA na perspectiva dos Letramentos Críticos podem propiciar affordances para a produção de eventos discursivos sensíveis a problemas sociais como a xenofobia, uma vez que, apesar da pequena quantidade de amostras analisadas, foi possível identificar indícios de um Letramento Crítico no que diz respeito a tal questão. Esperamos, futuramente, ampliar o número de amostras, apontando também casos que tiveram menor sucesso, bem como motivações possíveis para isso.

ABSTRACT The present study is about the production of Open Educational Resources (OER) in the perspective of Critical Literacy. The overall objective of the study is to investigate to what extent an Open Educational Resource (OER) from the perspective of Critical Literacy can provide (or not) affordances for the production of discursive events sensitive to social problems such as xenophobia. The specific objectives of the research are three, namely: a) Present the developed OER (materials objectives, theoretical and methodological principles that guided its development, materials and tools used during its production, etc.); b) Analyze two samples of the discursive events from this OER, in order to identify indications of Critical Literacy; c) Discuss theoretical and methodological possibilities for the redesign of this material. The study was developed in the course “Textual Production Workshop”, in the online bachelor’s degree in Spanish at the Federal University of Santa Maria, in partnership with the Open University of Brazil (FUSM/OUB). In this sense, it presents characteristics of a qualitative research of a phenomenological nature (BOGDAN and BIKLEN, 1996). The results indicate that OER in the perspective of Critical Literacy can provide affordances for the production of socially sensitive discursive events such as xenophobia, since, despite the small sample analyzed, it was possible to identify traces of Critical Literacy. We hope, in the future, to increase the number of samples, also pointing out cases that had less success, as well as possible motivations for this.

RESUMO Com o aumento da oferta na rede mundial de computadores dos chamados Cursos On-line Massivos e Abertos, mais conhecidos por seu acrônimo em inglês MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses), cria-se a necessidade de que se pesquise de maneira mais aprofundada sua dinâmica, sua pedagogia e sua estrutura a fim de que se possa estabelecer um juízo sobre as possibilidades de uso efetivo desta nova ferramenta para o ensino de línguas estrangeiras. Neste trabalho, situado no âmbito das pesquisas em CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning), partimos da perspectiva da Teoria Conectivista, estabelecida, sobretudo, a partir dos estudos de Siemens e Downes, para analisar dois cursos de línguas estrangeiras na modalidade MOOC, oferecidos em diferentes plataformas digitais: o curso de espanhol para estrangeiros oferecido pela UNED em plataforma própria e o curso de mandarim para hispanofalantes veiculado pela plataforma UNIMOOC. Em ambos os casos, evidencia-se que os cursos não cumprem o que prometem, apresentando falhas no processo de ensino, sobretudo no que tange à necessidade de criar espaços propícios à interação. Este trabalho inscreve-se em uma proposta de pesquisa mais ampla, cujo objetivo é estabelecer critérios adequados para a criação de MOOCs para o ensino de línguas estrangeiras.

ABSTRACT The increasing offer of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) in the World Wide Web generated the need to investigate their dynamics, pedagogy and structure in more depth to judge the possibilities of their effective use in the teaching of foreign languages. In this study, based on investigations in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), we start from the perspective of the Connectivist Learning Theory, established, mainly, from the studies of Siemens and Downes to analyze two foreign language courses in the MOOC modality offered in two different digital platforms: one course in Spanish as a foreign language offered by UNED on its own platform and a Mandarin course for Spanish speakers from the UNIMOOC platform. In both cases, it is evident that the courses did not fulfill what they promised, especially regarding the need to create spaces conducive to interaction. This study is part of a broader research proposal, whose objective is to establish adequate criteria for the creation of MOOCs as tools for the teaching of foreign languages.
